From our seven Australian manufacturing plants to tables across the globe, Minerva Foods brings quality, care and craft to everything we make.
Discover our story →Founded in 1987, Minerva Foods began as a small importer of specialty food ingredients from Europe. Over nearly four decades we have grown into one of Australia's most diverse food manufacturers, operating seven world-class production facilities from Bega in New South Wales to Wingfield in South Australia.
Today we produce an extensive range across dairy, frozen foods, beverages, bakery, snacks and confectionery, dry goods and condiments — supplying leading retailers and foodservice operators across Australia and exporting to more than 30 countries across Asia, the Americas, Europe and the Middle East.
Our mission is simple: make food that people are proud to put on their tables, with ingredients sourced responsibly and processes that respect the land, our communities and our customers.
From award-winning cheeses to crisp frozen vegetables, artisan breads to bold condiments — our plants produce the products that fill Australian pantries and fridges every day.
Each of our facilities combines purpose-built production technology with the expertise of our people to deliver consistent quality at scale.
Our export division serves customers in over 30 countries across five regions, with dedicated sales teams operating from Sydney and Singapore to managing relationships across the Americas, Europe and the Middle East.
We believe the companies that will thrive in the decades ahead are those that take the health of our planet as seriously as the quality of their products.
Minerva Foods has operated across Australia's food landscape for nearly four decades. Over that time, we have watched the consequences of unsustainable agriculture, excessive packaging waste and unchecked emissions accumulate in our environment and in the communities we serve. We are not a bystander to that problem — and we are not prepared to treat sustainability as a compliance exercise.
Our 2030 Sustainability Strategy — launched in 2023 — sets binding commitments on climate, packaging, water and supply chain integrity. It is backed by board-level governance, independently assured, and aligned with the Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards now mandated under the Treasury Laws Amendment Act 2024.
We aim to reach net zero Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2035, and net zero across our full value chain by 2050 — consistent with the 1.5°C pathway under the Paris Agreement and aligned to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
Four interconnected priorities guide every sustainability decision across our plants, supply chain and head office.
Reducing Scope 1, 2 and 3 greenhouse gas emissions in line with science-based targets. Transitioning all seven plants to renewable electricity by 2028.
100% of packaging reusable, recyclable or compostable by 2027. Reducing virgin plastic by 40% against a 2022 baseline. Expanding into certified compostable formats.
30% reduction in water intensity per tonne of product by 2030. Water recycling programmes active at Bega, Truganina and Eastern Creek. Catchment-level risk assessment completed annually.
Supplier Sustainability Code enforced across all Tier 1 suppliers. Deforestation-free commodity commitment for palm oil, soy and cocoa. 80% of suppliers assessed by 2026.
Each target is reported annually in our Sustainability Report and subject to independent limited assurance by our external auditor.
Against a 2022 baseline. Includes full transition to renewable electricity across all seven manufacturing sites.
All primary and secondary packaging reusable, recyclable or compostable. Virgin plastic reduced by 40% from 2022 levels.
Per tonne of finished product produced. Water recycling and closed-loop systems at dairy and beverage sites prioritised first.
Against our Supplier Sustainability Code covering environmental, labour and governance standards. High-risk commodity suppliers assessed first.
Aligned to SBTi 1.5°C pathway. Residual emissions offset via high-integrity Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs) only.
Including Scope 3 categories: purchased goods and services, logistics, customer use and end-of-life treatment of sold products.
Our greenhouse gas inventory is compiled in accordance with the GHG Protocol Corporate Standard and covers all three emission scopes. FY24 figures are independently assured to limited assurance standard.
Emissions from owned and controlled sources — combustion at our manufacturing plants and our owned freight vehicles.
Emissions from the generation of purchased electricity consumed across all seven manufacturing sites and our head office.
Indirect emissions across our full upstream and downstream value chain. Scope 3 baseline established FY24 — reduction pathways in development.
Under the Treasury Laws Amendment (Financial Market Infrastructure and Other Measures) Act 2024, Australian companies are now subject to mandatory climate-related financial disclosures under the Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards (ASRS). Minerva Foods is classified as a Group 2 entity and will lodge its first mandatory AASB S1 and AASB S2 climate statement for the financial year commencing 1 January 2026.
Our disclosures follow the four-pillar structure established by the TCFD — now embedded within AASB S2 — and are aligned to the ISSB's global baseline standards (IFRS S1 and IFRS S2). We commenced voluntary TCFD disclosure in our FY23 Annual Report as part of transition preparation.
Board-level oversight of climate risk through the Audit & Risk Committee. CFO and sustainability function report quarterly to the board on progress against the 2030 Strategy. Climate risk is embedded in the enterprise risk management framework.
Climate scenario analysis completed for 1.5°C and 3°C warming pathways. Physical risk assessment covers all seven manufacturing sites and key agricultural supply regions. Transition risk assessment covers carbon pricing, energy costs and regulatory change.
Climate risks identified, assessed and managed through a dedicated process integrated with group-wide risk management. Material risks are escalated to executive level. Supply chain climate risk assessments completed for Tier 1 agricultural suppliers.
Scope 1, 2 and 3 GHG emissions reported under the GHG Protocol. Absolute and intensity-based reduction targets set. Progress independently assured annually. Cross-industry metric disclosures include carbon price exposure, climate-related CapEx and transition plan expenditure.

Our leadership team brings together decades of experience across food manufacturing, export markets, finance and strategy. We are proud of the depth of talent that runs through every level of the organisation.
Minerva Foods is led by a tight-knit executive team with a shared commitment to building a food company that does things properly — in quality, in culture and in governance.
James joined Minerva Foods in 2018 after more than two decades leading major food and agribusiness organisations across the Asia-Pacific. He served as Managing Director of Simplot Australia for six years before taking up an executive role at the Fonterra Co-operative Group, where he led the Australian and New Zealand retail division through a period of significant category expansion.
Under his leadership, Minerva Foods has expanded its export footprint into five international markets, invested $120 million in manufacturing capability across its seven sites, and launched the 2030 Sustainability Strategy. He is a board member of the Australian Food and Grocery Council (AFGC) and a fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Sarah brings over eighteen years of financial leadership experience across consumer goods, wine and beverage, and food manufacturing. Before joining Minerva, she held the position of Group Financial Controller at Treasury Wine Estates, where she oversaw financial reporting, treasury and tax functions across its Australian, Americas and EMEA segments. Prior to that, she spent seven years at EY in the assurance and advisory practice, reaching Senior Manager level.
At Minerva, Sarah leads the Group Finance function with accountability for financial reporting, planning and analysis, treasury, tax and investor relations. She is also the executive sponsor of Minerva's AASB S1/S2 mandatory climate disclosure programme, ensuring the organisation meets its Group 2 entity obligations from FY2026. She is a Chartered Accountant (CA ANZ) and holds a Master of Applied Finance from Macquarie University.
The Group Finance team provides Minerva Foods with the financial insight, rigour and planning capability that underpins every strategic decision.
Matthew joined Minerva Foods in 2019 from a senior analyst role at a Brisbane-based FMCG group. A passionate advocate for data-driven planning, Matthew has transformed the company's forecasting cycle from a largely manual, spreadsheet-based process to an integrated, driver-based model covering all seven manufacturing sites and five sales regions.
Tom has been with Minerva Foods for fifteen years, making him one of the longest-serving members of the finance team. He is responsible for the integrity of the group's financial statements, the month-end close process and external audit. His deep knowledge of Minerva's account structure, manufacturing cost flows and inventory accounting is considered indispensable by the executive team. Tom is also the primary liaison with Minerva's external auditor and oversees the NGER reporting submitted each October under the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Act.
Priya joined Minerva Foods in 2023 following two years in the Financial Advisory practice at Deloitte Sydney, where she worked primarily on financial modelling and performance improvement engagements for ASX-listed consumer goods clients. She plays a central role in building and maintaining Minerva's integrated planning models, producing the monthly management reporting pack and supporting the sales planning process across domestic and export channels. Priya holds a Bachelor of Commerce with a double major in Finance and Data Analytics from Macquarie University.
Michael is the Group Accountant at Minerva Foods, responsible for general ledger integrity, intercompany reconciliations, cost accounting across the manufacturing plants and the preparation of management accounts. He has particular expertise in manufacturing cost variance analysis and works closely with the plant controllers at Bega, Eastern Creek and Truganina to ensure production costs are accurately captured and reported. Michael joined Minerva in 2020 from a mid-tier chartered accounting firm where he specialised in the agribusiness and food processing sectors.
Emma manages Minerva's treasury function, covering cash and liquidity management, FX hedging across the group's five export currency exposures, banking relationships and debt facilities. She also oversees income tax compliance and deferred tax provisioning, coordinating with Minerva's external tax advisers on R&D tax incentive claims and transfer pricing for intercompany export transactions. Emma joined the company in 2022 from a treasury analyst role at a major Australian supermarket group. She is a Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) and has a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance from FINSIA.
